Germany — Heilpraktiker für Ayurveda

Germany requires foreign Ayurveda doctors to qualify as Heilpraktiker (non-medical practitioner) unless they hold a German medical license. The Heilpraktiker route is the practical path for BAMS graduates.

6–12 months (course + exam) EUR 3,000–6,000 (course + exam + setup)

Eligibility

  • High school diploma equivalent
  • Minimum age 25
  • German B2 proficiency (Goethe-Zertifikat)
  • Pass Heilpraktiker Überprüfung (state examination)

Exam

State exam — written (60 MCQ, 2 hours) + oral exam (medical knowledge, diagnosis, German clinical communication).

  1. 1. Enrol in Heilpraktikerschule (2 years part-time)
  2. 2. Achieve B2 German
  3. 3. Sit state Heilpraktiker exam
  4. 4. Register practice with local Gesundheitsamt

Tips

  • BAMS does not directly transfer — the German route requires the Heilpraktiker exam regardless
  • Munich, Berlin, Hamburg have established Ayurveda Heilpraktiker scenes
