Ayurvedic understanding
Khalitya is described as scalp Bhrajaka Pitta vitiation combined with Rakta dushti. Hair (Kesha) is an upadhatu (sub-tissue) of Asthi (bones); poor Asthi-poshana shows up as weak hair roots. The Kerala tradition treats hair fall topically (medicated oils) + systemically (Rasayana herbs like Bhringaraja, Amalaki).
Kerala treatments
Neelibhringadi Tailam is the signature hair oil — daily Shiroabhyanga (scalp massage) for 21+ days. Nasya (medicated nasal drops, Anu Taila) targets the head region through the nasal channels — clinically effective for chronic Khalitya. Combined with Amalaki Rasayana (1 tsp daily), warm-oil head bath weekly.
